Annual Trip Raffle 2012
The winner, Suzanne Piacentini Vasu, was contacted by the Forum on speaker phone on June 4, 2012, the night her ticket was pulled by new member Karen Fetteroll. Suzanne carries on her family tradition of giving and generously donated the funds for the 2012 trip to Italy back to the Forum! This results in an unprecedented net profit that will really help keep the CIWF active. The Women’s Forum would like to thank Suzanne Vasu, ACT, and each of the individuals who purchased a 2012 raffle ticket.
CIWF supports Women’s Wellness in Avalon by donating to disadvantaged community members facing health issues. The Forum also supports the annual health fair held by the Catalina Island Medical Center and many generous sponsors who take over the ballroom at the Casino Building every April.
Like their founders, new members come to the CIWF for different reasons: some searching for a worthy cause to support, others seeking new friends, and some wish to make new contacts with other professional women. New members and sponsors are always welcome!
MEMBERSHIP
We meet on the 1st Monday of the month to discuss our mentoring program, general business, and fundraising programs. There is also a Board Member meeting on the 4th Tuesday of each month, general members are welcome to attend. Where does the money go? We operate a domestic abuse hotline to help women and children in need, organize mentoring activities with the 11th and 12th grade girls, and award scholarships to some of the young ladies graduating from Avalon High School.
Some people don’t have a lot of free time to help, but want to support our cause; they can make a donation to C.I.W.F. at any time to help us maintain our mission: “To create solutions for women’s issues in our community."
